Town of Garner, NC – Town Hall Bioretention Rain Garden Facility Design: Project engineer for the design of a bioretention rain garden facility to be retrofitted into the existing Town Hall site. The design was to limit nitrogen and sediment pollution from existing development for purposes of water supply watershed protection. The facility was intended as a model for future initiatives. Duties included coordination of data collection, supporting design calculation, development of construction specifications and design drawings in CAD, and estimation of construction costs and pollutant discharge reduction.

Mecklenburg County, NC LUESA – McDowell Creek BMPs: Project engineer for the location and / or design of numerous bioretention and stormwater wetland facilities in the McDowell Creek watershed. The project was funded in part by the North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund and, therefore, subject to all related reporting requirements. The project also required coordination with multiple property owners as well as the Town of Huntersville. Duties included coordination of data collection, supporting design calculation, development of construction specifications and design drawings in CAD, and estimation of construction costs and pollutant discharge reduction.

Bridge & Culvert Design

Fairfield PropertiesThe Exchange at Charlotte 100+1 Flood Study and Culvert Design: Project Engineer for risk analysis of flood damage at residential multi-family development in Charlotte, NC. Developed a hydrologic model using HEC-HMS to develop flow rates for the 100-year event. Constructed a hydraulic model using HEC-RAS in order to quantify flood elevation. Mapped areas of inundation from an event 1 foot above the 100-year flood elevation using survey and GIS. Designed roadway culvert crossing according to inundation, HW/D, and erosion control requirements.

WaterstoneCates Creek Crossing Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) and Culvert Design: Project Engineer for assessment of proposed mixed development on Cates Creek 100-year FEMA floodplain in Hillsborough, NC. Included development consisted of one ConSpan arch roadway culvert crossing and associated fill. Also included for assessment was an upstream roadway crossing that was incorrectly identified in the effective FEMA study. Modified the effective FEMA HEC-RAS hydraulic model to include proposed and incorrectly identified development and to quantify changes in flood elevation and extent. Designed roadway culvert crossing according to inundation and HW/D. Revised associated official FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) with local community and State endorsement.

Toll BrothersFayetteville Road Assemblage Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) and Culvert Design: Project Engineer for assessment of impact of proposed double rectangular box roadway culvert crossing on Southwest Creek 100-year FEMA floodplain in Durham, NC. Modified the effective FEMA HEC-RAS hydraulic model to include proposed development and quantify changes in flood elevation and extent. Designed roadway culvert crossing according to inundation, HW/D, and erosion control requirements. Revised associated official FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) with local community and State endorsement.
